I have to look up a genetics book to give the exactly correct answer.
Yet I know you can expect a child's IQ by using this formula.
Kid's IQ = ( The Average of Parents' IQ - The Average IQ of human being) *
Coefficient + The Average IQ of human being.
The coefficient has been well investigated and should be found in a genetics
book. The idea behind this formula is that statistically a portion of the
difference of the parents' average IQ and the human being average IQ can be
inherited to their child. If the sub group(s) of the parents belong to are
known, the coefficient can be better defined. There is a term for this coef
in genetics, which I don't remember.
My answer is that parents contribute nearly equally to their kids'
intelligence. I suspect that this formula is not precise enough. For example,
kids whose parents' IQ are 100 and 180, 140 and 140, respectively, may
have different expected IQ's, even if their parents have the same average
IQ and belong to the same sub group.
