Make sure the dose you are handling and the type od radiation invilved.
In biology, usual isotope are not very harmful, because of the above 2
reasons.
such as H3, soft gamma ray, easy to absorb even in the air, usually do not
need to worry unless you eat or drink it.
P32 is beta, stronger than H3, sometimes some protection if dose is high.
Most time do not, if dose is low. Be careful of ingestion or other type ir
internal radiation.
S35 is also soft, easy to prevent.
I125 or other I isotope might be more troublesome, since internal radiation
will be focused in certain place, has relatively long biological half life.
However, if not those common used isotope, make sure you know what it is, what
is the physical half-life and biological half-life. Something like K41, Rb,
etc are also being used in biological study, and I do not know about those
isotopes.
Be careful, but do not be too worried. Sometimes when you get nervous, you
have more chance to spill things or make mistakes. Keep in mind that you get
radio-irridiation all the time no matter what you do, they exsit in regular
life as well.
