I agree. I think molecular biology at present is a much more exciting field.
Genomics is promising very high throughput and new techniques appear by day.
Things in the field of electrophysiology is much more stagnant. I think unless
the questions you are interested in can only be answered by electrophysiology,
it is not an especially promising field to go into.
In terms of being boring, electrophysiology is different from molecular
biology. In electrophysiology, you have the frustration of constantly trying
and constantly things not working, sometimes you just want to smash your
machine. But at least you know it's not working unlike in molecular biology
where sometimes you find out days later. Different people can tolerate
different kind of stress better. :)
