to read a paper, it depends on what purpose
if it is for your presentation, you have to read it thouroughly, make sure you
understand most details of the paper, hypothesis, the methods and materials,
and its results, , and think of its shortcomings.
if it is for just disscussion, you should understand roughly its background
and ideas, and major results, also prepare some questions.
if it is only for class, read the abstract to get some background is enough.
if it is for some special purposes, like looking for certain experiments, just
go to find that paragraph.
and if it is just your regular paper reading not related to your field very
much, title and abstract is ok.
