If you clone a 30 bp DNA into the 5' of the filamentus phage
gene III or VIII, it will express a 10 Aa peptide on the surface
of the phage partical. So if you have a libray of random sequence
30bp DNA, you're able to get a libray of phage with each of
them express a different random 10 Aa peptide on the surface.
That is a 10Aa phage display library.
If you have a ligand and you're able to immoblize it on the coloumn,
you can screen the libray to see which of them bind.Sequence the binding
phage can tell you what peptide bind to your ligand which could be very
useful.
