yes, in most cases serum starvation should do fine for your case.
Be careful with the serum starvation time though. Sometime you need
to starve the cells really long (till they start to die) to achieve
the maximum quienscence. Sometimes you only need to start 24 hours or less
to obtained your desired result. Start with a time course test will surely
help.
