Two ways for embedding:
usually the figure and tables attached after the text
or locate figure and tables wherever you want in the text (not common)

My understanding is they would like you to submit the MS in a word file
other than pdf, so that they can edit your file by themselvess. So it
doesn't matter how you embed the figure and tables.
