The technique part is no big deal in this paper based on their previous
achievement in recording Xenopus tectal neurons in vivo. But it is kind of
difficult to say anything about its influence. Basically, this paper raised an
interesting question by describing the phenomena but gave limitted
explanation.
I guess since Dr. Tao found a faculty job in USC, she will probably work more
on this model in a Poo's style.
And I just felt surprised by his publishing Neuron or Nature papers in such a
speed. You are not thinking I wanted to express my admiration by saying
something like that, are you? :) Of course his career gave us a lot of
inspirations. I did go back to his early publication from time to time in
order to follow his track in a model or a question.
Maybe we can organize a journal club to discuss some recent progress on
synaptic plasticity if we want to do some serious discussion.

: Poo is not god, his work is not perfect. all of us know that, right?

: Why not talking more about this insteading of admiring Poo too much.
