Bioinformatics is an interdiscipline field. One can do many different things
within bioinformatics. Actually, if you say you study bioinformatics, no one
really knows what you are doing. Part of the reasons is when bioinformatics
was hot, people from all different fields claim that they do bioinformatics.
Nowadays, it is not that easy to find a job in bioinformatics.
Bioinformatics need broad background ranging from biology, computer science,
and statistics. I have colleagues with all different kinds of background.
According to your situation, I think maybe you can study some statistics and
find some biostatistics related job after graduation. If possible you can try
to get a biostatistics master degree during your phd study.
