I am the correspondance author of one paper that I am revising now. And my PI
encouraged me to do so, because I conceived the idea and carried out the work
and my PI is nice. On the other hand, I will be primarily responsible for all
that I want to say in the work.

One more thing that you need to consider is when it comes down to negotiate
with the AE of a journal, it will take some experience. It does not mean that
you cannot do it, but better educate your PI first on your work so he will
backup your story. After all, there is a reputation that needs to consider.


It is a great experience and challenging for junior researchers.

P.S. In the long run, to have good communication with people around you on
your work is important.
