Previously, one institute like columbia university can recommend only one
candidate for application. Now after Jack Dixon becomes the vice president,
a sea selection happened.

Most of time you need to be younger than 45 to enter as the first time. Then
after 5 years they will re-eveluate. Big guys like Hendrickson is just
kicked out this year. But some of them like Excel (may spelling wrong).
linda buck, really win Nobel prize.

Each person will have 1 millon grant each year, and they can also apply for
other group grant from HHMI by collaberating with new techs. Another benefit
form them they can apply for big instrument update each year.

But once the guy is kicked out, he can never come back. That's just the
policy.

HHMIs like Kuriyan, xiaodong wang is very good.
