Hey, could you be a little careful when saying something. It is viral gene
therapy, not drug delivery. It wasn't two years ago either, it was really some
years ago (likely around 99). That has been a big blow to the whole field for
sure. However it doesn't mean the approach itself is not promising. The field
was over-optimistic but people are still trying and it is still one of the
promising approaches. Anyway, the funding perspective for gene therapy is bad,
which somewhat reflects the very bad political influence in science climates.
Anything related with gene therapy will be under extra pressure to get funded
and go through FDA. This has nearly killed a very promising field(it could
be nothing too).
