that's not true, I graduted from a pretty bad univ back in china and
went to the top univ for graduate study...

I was crazy about scientific research untill I went to that univ... where I
realized most labs there are just doing nothing, of course, except wasting
tax-payers money...

my interest in biological research revived when I come to US, bench work
can be fun, if you have a very well planned experiment and you have very
strong desire to see the expected result. Doing too much experiemnt without
think thoroughly beforhand is not good, and you will lose interested in
bench work pretty soon.

I work in industry right now, no bench work, but I begin to realize I probably
made the wrong decision... not sure if I should try to find a good postdoc
position right now, two things to worry, first, the pay in academic postdoc
is too low, second, I am not sure when the postdoc will end, it depends a lot
on luck... I know several faculties in my univ all did 6 years of postdoc
before find a position... just don't want to be in that position.

【 在 highseas (就象江湖上的绰号) 的大作中提到: 】
: Are we biologists just stamp collectors? Graduating from the toppest biology
: program in our nation, i have an impression that nine out of ten biology graduates
: hate bench work and this discipline. please voice your opinion if you think i am
: wrong.
