(1) You are WRONG. It is none of employees' business, so they have no right
to strike.

The same applied when Pres. Chen Shui-bian ordered change of Chunghua Post
to Taiwan Post a year ago. Postal employees protested then, in vain. They
had no right, either.

A company belongs to an owner, not an employee.

(2) Reuters reported on Mar. 28, 2008 that "Taiwan's Formosa lifts fuel
prices, ending freeze." The last paragraph stated, "Critics of the price
freeze have said it could eventually force CPC into insolvency, as soaring
global oil prices have forced it to sell fuel at a loss." CPC is 中油,
Chinese Petroleum Corp.

Remember, both CPC and Formosa can sell gasoline in the world market. That
is what Formosa is doing after Taiwanese customers shifted to CPC, when
Formosa raised price a few days ago. On the other hand, CPC will run out of
everything (besides cash) in a month.

(3) It is wrong for Taiwanese government, or any government in capitalistic
country, to cap price. Now that both the Chen Administration and incoming Ma
Administration will do the same (capping price), I say no more.

CNNMoney.com today reports, in an article titled "Taiwan's Formosa
Petrochemical rating unaffected by petroleum price hike - S&P""

Standard and Poor "S&P expects the company to be able to increase exports to
mitigate the impact of falling sales" in the domestic market. It is said
that gasoline price in world market is higher than that in Taiwan, where it
is about $1 a litter or $4 a gallon---compared to more than $3 a gallon in
US. So gasoline price is higher than that in US. But European nations have
even higher gasoline price than Taiwan.

Reuters reports today, in an article titled "CPC [Chinese Petroleum
Corporation, Taiwan] says will die without Taiwan fuel price hike":

"Taiwan's CPC Corp has lost an estimated $660 million refining in the first
quarter due to high crude prices, and is desperate for a government fuel
price hike soon to stem the loss

"S.H. Chu, Vice President of CPC [CHIP.UL], said CPC's three refineries
operate at only 65 percent of capacity, and without an increase in the
regulated prices it charges for its refined fuels, the loss could balloon to
$3.3 billion for 2008.

My comment: The compnay had a press release yesterday (Apr. 1, 2008) titled
"中油配合政府政策4月份國內油氣價格不予調整" which, despite claiming
wholehearted support for Taipei to stabilize prices, disclosed that in 2008,
"1、2月份分別虧損新台幣68億元及64億元，3月份預估虧損超過90億元" or about $
210, $200 and $250 million, respectively (total should be $660 million).
